This has nothing to do with travel, so I apologize for the very off topic subject, but today is one of those days where I miss my “random” blog where I would just rant/rave/ramble about any old thing, so I just had to come share a bit of music/t.v. love tonight.
I finally got to see the final 3 episodes of HBO’s 6 Feet Under and the final episode is one of the most touching pieces of art I have ever seen. This show encompasses music, photography and film and paints it into this masterpiece work of art. Odd as the show may be, the characters are so wonderfully portrayed that you can’t help but forgive them their quirks. I, myself, identified with the character of Claire so wholely that it was quite scary at times. Even my own family would smirk at me as they procclaimed, “That sounds just like something you would say!” And, well, that wasn’t always a compliment. ;)
Anyway, in the final episode there is a song that plays at the end that I just fell in love with. (I won’t explain what happens at the end, since I don’t want to spoil anyone who hasn’t seen it.) And so I googled 6 Feet Under songs to find out who sings it (”Breathe Me” by Sia) then ran over to the music store to get the Six Feet Under: Everything Ends soundtrack. It has a number of other gems as well including one of my VERY favorite musicians Nina Simone and her song called “Feeling Good” which was used as a 6FU promotion a couple seasons ago. It’s definately a keeper of an album and I highly recommend it!
