So, my tagline says “Beautiful Places, Beautiful People, Beautiful Moments” and honestly there’s been a real lack of that here on this blog as of late – there’s been a real lack of anything as of late. Today I am in a state of sadness and confusion related to family matters, but it is comforting that even on a day like this I can find beauty.
I was listening to one of my favorite music artists, Brett Dennen, because on a day like this I need comfort and his music always comforts me. I decided to look up some of his lyrics for some clarity about something and it turns out I was mistaken about one certain lyric and in finding the correct lyric it lead me to this:The Salt Monument
It’s a humbling way to view ourselves in this world. We are small and delicate in the grand scheme of things and I don’t think it’s something to be passive about. And truly, if you think about it, this one small world as a whole is no bigger than a grain of salt compared to the universe. It is my wish that people become more consciously aware of just how unique and precious we are, for the sake of all our futures.
I heard about a women who lives in Colorado.
She built a monoument of salt behind the garage door,
Where everyday she prays for all whom are born
And all whose souls have passed on.
-Brett Dennen
I had always thought it was “a monument of sorts” – what a beautiful surprise!
