Kauai is overrun with wild chickens. They’re at the peir, the beach, the mall, WalMart. They’re almost as bad as pigeons if you can imagine that! So spending Thanksgiving at the beach with roosters crowing as they pecked around was something I won’t soon forget. In spite of the chickens however, Thanksgiving was mostly uneventful. I missed seeing my family and for the most part it just seemed like any other day at work. Not a bad day at work – I mean, who else gets to go to the beach every day? – but nothing out of the norm for me.
Also, I must admit going home a few weeks ago really made me miss the cool crisp Autumn weather and watching the leaves change. The lack of change here is a little confusing to my brain. It feels like Summer every-single-day and so it’s almost like living in the movie “Groundhog Day” with no changes except for the occasional rain shower. Strange…
Anyway, while I collect my thoughts for “Part Two” of my 2008 reflections please enjoy some of my PHOTOS from a recent trip to Kauai’s Waimea Canyon and Napali State Park Beach. It was a lovely time and I hope to go drive around Kauai some more because this island is rich in georgeous landscapes.
